What does Driver CPC mean?

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) is a legal requirement for a professional lorry, coach, or bus driver who is paid to drive.

You must carry the CPC card whenever you are driving in the allocated vehicle.

Can I complete my Driver CPC Training Online?

Yes.  Because of Covid 19, the Government has permitted Driver CPC Training to be delivered in a virtual classroom.  We deliver our Driver CPC Training, live, via Zoom. It is a convenient and easy way to get the training you need from the comfort of your own home.  You will need internet access and a PC, laptop or tablet with working camera and microphone. Most of our delegates much prefer this option.

Do I need the Driver CPC Qualification?

If you want to drive a goods vehicle over 3.5 tonnes or a passenger vehicle with more than eight passenger seats professionally, you must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach.

If you passed your car test before January 1997 then you have acquired rights to the Initial Driver CPC qualification. You are then required to undertake 35 hours Approved Driver CPC training every five years to maintain your qualification.

New LGV or PCV drivers, without acquired rights, need to have successfully completed Modules 2 & 4 with DVSA, and then undertake 35hrs Approved Driver CPC training every five years to maintain their qualification.
